The Station Hotel

One of the best hotels I have stayed at. On top of being very cozy, the resturant downstairs serves excellent food.

Just book it ! First things first – ignore any reviews prior to 01st Sept 2025 when the hotel changed hands. It is now family owned and run by Alan & Eloise and a superb job they are making of both the accommodation and the food sides of it. We have stayed in many hotels and this takes good honest unpretentious accommodation to a higher level at a very reasonable price. Booking and greeting plus house/accommodation by Eloise is very welcoming and friendly. We stayed two nights 03rd & 04th Oct to attend the Outdoors show in Aberdeen. The hotel has recently been refurbished and everything is absolutely spotless, with comfortable beds, nice powerful mains showers in the en-suite and very tasteful décor without being overly fussy. Rooms have the requisite tea and coffee facilities plus TV, and hair dryers are available on request. Breakfast is a plentiful continental style of cereals, fruit and yoghurts plus fresh pastries, cold meat cheese etc or a selection of cooked offerings with the usual drinks and toast. We had the scrambled egg & smoked salmon on bagel which was absolutely spot on. Dinner is a delight with Alan’s flare and attention to detail offering a selection of meat, fish and vegetarian/vegan options all beautifully prepared and served which put many standalone bistros in Edinburgh to shame. It just shows what can done with fresh food carefully and professionally prepared, our mains were steak pie, risotto and monkfish all of which were exquisite. They have a good selection of wines and beers which they are looking to improve once they get established.

Went along for New Year's Day Brunch. Had lovely food perfectly cooked and fantastic hospitality. The new owners have really taken the Station Hotel forward. Always a great menu. Looking forward to many more visits in 2026

Wow! I have travelled a lot. And this place is above! What a surprise! A few meters from the train station of Insch. What a perfect location to reach and travel the entire area from Inverness to Aberdeen. And less expensive than booking hotels there. The rooms are great. The bathrooms so comfortable. The breakfast is nice. And they do have vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. I really recommend to stay there and travel this region by train! Will definitely come back! :)

The rooms at the hotel are lovely, modern, and beautifully decorated, and there's a great choice for breakfast. The hosts are so friendly and welcoming, and couldn't do enough for us to ensure we had a comfortable stay. The hotel also felt very safe in terms of following COVID restrictions.

We stayed here on our way through the region. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. And has lots of parking. Absolutely recommend. There is also a neat castle you can walk to not far away (Dunnideer) and some standing stones.

Wonderful little hotel in Insch, Scotland. Food is great and rooms very comfortable, staff very friendly. We'll worth a visit.

The station hotel restaurant has opened under new management. We went for dinner. The hostess was lovely and had us seated soon. The menu has lot of variety. We had the scallops, prawn and smoked salmon for starters which were delicious. For mains we had the monkfish and venison which was pretty good. I think the mains could have done with bit more vegetables or potatoes. For desserts it was sticky toffee and bread pudding. Both are great. All the food was well prepared and beautifully served. Will definitely visit again. 3 course with a beer came to £50pp with tip. Dog friendly with prior intimation.

Had a wonderful lunch there today. A party of 6 people and everyone was raving about the quality and the size of portions. Will be returning here again but next time it will be an evening meal. Thank you for a fantastic lunch.
